This is a pretty awesome book. I read ALOT, especially post-apocalyptic and dystopian novels, and this book is in my top 20 (to put this in perspective, I go through several books a week) for 2015. 'Hybrid' is fast paced and well written. In most books, I usually end up skimming over boring or unneccesarily detailed parts, but there were few (if any) instances here. There were some areas that could've used a bit of refinement, but I don't think it negatively affected the book. I really love the way Mr. Anderson combined ideas from different sub-genres - some authors try, and it doesn't really work. In this case, the sum is definitely greater than its parts. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Hybrid eBook Justin Anderson Reviews

This story had a very interesting setting but I did find it a little drawn out in some areas. Overall I enjoyed the story and look forward to the next part.
This was a very good story of belief, grief, despair and true devotion to someone you care for.I really enjoyed the characters in this book and their stories and tribulations are well done.Just when it seemed all hope was gone you see maybe it isn't.Great read
JA has written a novel of experimentation by scientists and engineers indicating the combination of DNA's. I wonder if this is a current events novel or speculation of the near future. This is an excellent read for the genre.....ER
The story was done well. Josh is WAY too soft for a hero in the setting he is in. I kept waiting for him get a grip on the reality his situation which he sort of does. The next book MFT be interesting to read.
Picked this up as a freebie. Love the concept and characters. Really hope to continue visiting their world. Will definitely read more by Justin Anderson
so this book takes place in a future world where there are people who are half human, half animal. Josh, our impulsive, aggressive main character is one of them. he and some others are out hunting shells, hybrids who have gone insane. And that's all I'm saying about the story because you should read it to see how awesome it is.

I loved the fast paced story, not going into detail about every single rock and building in an area. Character development was good, but the lack of character descriptions didn't really help. For starters,I don't think it was ever revealed what animal Josh's best friend was.

Another thing that annoyed me was the survivability of these guys somehow in this apocalyptic world, they still have bread which apparently can keep people alive and active for days on end. I wish I had some super bread...
While I recognized the lack of maturity in this writing immediately, I quickly found myself compelled to read on... The characters are interesting, The choices made by the community's leaders can be empathised with... They're was a good story in here. However, about a third through the book, the author begins explaining the origins of the hybrids, and I couldn't get through it. This author is earnest enough, but this work lacks a lot of revision and I think the guidance and critique of a much more developed, mature writer would have greater benefitted this work.
